It would be truly awesome if all accidents on the roads stopped, if criminals surrendered their arms and stopped crime and if all people were to wait for marriage to have sex. These statements cannot help but be a reality of the present imperfect world. The truth that all people have to face when it comes to sexual matters is that teens, young adults, middle aged and older people will do whatever they find pleasing.
Looking at the facts will snap you to reality and this will go a long way in keeping you away from disaster with this respect. First, you have to use protection against pregnancy and STIs no matter your age; not unless you are trying to get pregnant or contract a disease. For teens, birth control is paramount because no kid is ready to raise a kid. For the sexually transmitted diseases, there is one way and it is the barrier method.
It involves the use of condoms. Not all condom brands will protect you from common sexual diseases and you have to go for quality and tested condoms that have been approved by relevant authorities. Condoms must be used mainly to prevent transmitting of diseases and people can also use other birth control methods at the same time to further reduce chances of pregnancy.
For teens who think that oral sex is alright to go free style, you should think again. You can contract diseases like AIDS through oral sex and barrier methods like condoms are advocated. Dental dams are also advised in this type of sex. People especially teens need to know the kind of partners they entertain for sex. There are those that might be intoxicated, those that may be underage and those who may demand that you stop. All these kinds of partners can land you on a rape charge and you need to be wise on partners no matter your age.
Keep in mind that every time you engage in sex you can get pregnant or even contract a disease even if you use protection. Abstinence is the only full proof way to keep away from the risks of sex. When it comes to birth control, poor use or inconsistent use can land you in crisis. Birth control pills need to be taken as directed. Condoms also need to be placed properly and used correctly. Any glitch will definitely make your efforts fruitless.
You should know that there is no ideal way to have sex but if certain things are not right, you should stop. If you feel pain or emotionally unsure, you should definitely stop. Therefore as discussed above, your sex checklist is going to contain a number of things that are listed below.
First, a willing and consenting partner who is of legal age to engage in sex. This applies to all people who are sexually active no matter their ages.
You need birth control which should be used properly as directed.
You then need protection from sexually transmitted infections and condoms will work well. You may opt for male or female condoms. Remember, quality of condoms should be considered.
Another thing is to have realistic expectations of sex and what it means for you. Young people might have huge and unrealistic expectations and for this reason, sex at a young age might not do any justice.
You need to find a safe and secure place to engage in sex where both parties are comfortable.
You need to be fully aware of the physical, emotional and spiritual consequences that sex comes with.
Finally in your checklist, you need to have mutual respect and trust between you and your partner. Anything less will not yield the full potential of what sex can be in your life.
